Patios poured flat, or sloped the wrong way, hold water against the foundation and grow algae in the shade. Once a patio settles toward the house, the fix is a rebuild.
A patio is the slab people actually sit on, so the finish and the drainage matter more than anywhere else on the property. We set the slope so water leaves the house, size the slab around the furniture you plan to use, and pick a finish that stays comfortable underfoot in summer sun.
